(Except that if you've seen enough of those shows, you know that there's always a twist in the last two episodes, so maybe it's actually when you most expect it.) The fastest times on the German  autobahn  weren't set yesterday, or a year ago, or even a decade ago. They were set in 1938. On the same day. By Mercedes Benz and Auto Union (which would eventually become Audi). Bernd Rosemeyer drove an Auto Union streamliner that had a mid-mounted V-16 engine, two  superchargers  and an estimated 400  horsepower  -- not too shabby even today. It was designed by Ferdinand Porsche. What the streamliner didn't have, unfortunately, was enough  downforce  to keep it planted on the road at high speed. Look at the polite white car that moves over at Minute 4:21 A2 ========== Now here is the A7 Only fast part is in the front of the video, minute 1.   I don't recommend the area of the autobahn near east germany.. by the way, i have a friend who wants to drive fast. legally. So I suggested that the person should fly to Germany and rent a car. here are the questions. 1. What sections of the autobahn have no speed limits? 2. what time of year is the weather dry (less rain)? My friend does not like to drive at night, but maybe that is the best time to go fast? 3. what is your experience? have you ever gone 270 kph? what car? that's like 162 mph 250 kph = 150 mph 260 kph = 156 mph 270 kph = 162 mph 280 kph = 168 290 kph = 174 mph 300 kph = 180 mph
